More golf and media

Golf at Laurel Valley (Townsend) is now under 30 dollars every day except Saturday. The course is in super shape and the old slow greens are now old FAST greens. Located across the street from the old Laurel Lake, now a wet area (or Tree Hugger terminology for swamp) Laurel Valley has grown from a 9 hole course to a well kept 18 hole track filled with great looks at Rich Mountain and the surrounding hills. The restaurant is open this season and the private pool is also open to those who rent certain cabins. A new addition (to me) is a flock of wild turkeys who hang around between the green at 10 and the T box over on 18. In the past late afternoons would find deer on 9 near the green but I didn't see any this trip.

Now that my knee is working again I hope to head back for some late summer and fall golf in the Valley, if you don't mind a 16.5 mile drive from Maryville give it a try.

On hallsnews.com the new column is up and it links you over to a couple of places if you have an interest in the latest Arbitron numbers. Radio is really just too predictable in East TN and so are the numbers. WIVK is always number one followed by WIMZ, News Talk, B 97, STAR and a host of others. The links on hallsnews.com don't have the numbers for the non-commercial stations but if they did I am sure WDVX would be in the top three.

Da Big Orange have a group of home games up front and a few will be on CBS or Jefferson Pilot (locally WVLT) but if they suck early then the bulk of the season may not make the CBS lineup, still a coin toss at this point. Check out Volunteer
TV.com for your listings provided we manage to beat Cal, Marshal and Florida. Hey, considering all the press coming out of the Large Orange nothing is a lock this year!
